Careful-"Global Warming"
...might be yet another in a long, long human history of manipulations. I know this isn't necessarily topical, but remember not to feel too guilty about Earth changes. Just one of any of ten thousand+ undersea volcanoes causes more melt, heat and CO2 than humanity ever could if he tried. Polar ice melts are due to increased underwater volcanism. Not your car :-)
Seriously.
I'm very sorry for polar bears, but don't let their troubles trick us into voting to control "human-caused global warming".
OK- all done.
Actually...
An increase in glacier melting COULD provoke more underwater volcanism and earthquakes, as more water adds more pressure to the tectonic plates.
That's the problem of signing a leasing contract fro a planet without receiving an instruction manual. You gotta learn everyhting on-the-go ;)

It's not the depth of the rabbit hole that bugs me...
It's all the rabbit SH*T you stumble over on your way down!!!

soot
There is also the soot factor. Dark particles in the ice promote melting. Some of this is man-made (burning coal and such things), some of it is natural (forest fires, volcanoes).
I am not sure there are volcanoes erupting under the arctic. Perhaps the Russian and US submarine forces know more about this. There have been a volcano under the ice in Iceland that erupted. Same with Antarctica.
I am also confident that there are more undersea volcano eruptions than we know about.
